Female hair transplant in Hyderabad

A hair transplant can help some women with hair loss, but not all. Women more often have thinning spread over the top of the head than a bald patch, so the cause is checked first and medical treatment is often tried before surgery.

How hair loss differs in women

In female pattern hair loss, the hairline usually stays in place while the hair on top becomes thinner and the parting widens. The thinning can also affect the back and sides, which are the donor areas in a transplant. That is why the donor area needs careful examination before a woman is offered surgery.

Hair loss in women can also be caused by thyroid problems, anaemia, hormonal conditions, recent illness, childbirth or tight hairstyles. These are looked for first, and treated if found.

When a transplant may suit a woman

• A stable, healthy donor area at the back of the scalp
• Hair loss in a defined area, such as a high or receding hairline, or the temples
• Hair loss from pulling hairstyles (traction alopecia) that has stopped
• Scars from injury or surgery where hair does not grow

If the thinning is spread widely, medical treatment or PRP or GFC may be advised instead of, or before, surgery.

The procedure

Female hair transplant can be done either by FUE or FUT same as men. As many women prefer hair transplantation without disfigurement FUT remains ideal in many cases, especially for people who require more than 2000 grafts. If the graft number is less than 2000 grafts a window shave FUE can be opted where only limited zone of donor is shaven and surrounding hair are left as it is, so as to cover the shaved zone.
