Trichophytic closure
Medically reviewed by [medical reviewer name], [review date]
Trichophytic closure is a way of stitching the donor area after a FUT strip is removed, which reduces the scar. Hair can later grow through the scar line.
How it works
Once the strip has been removed from the donor area, the two edges are brought together with sutures. Trichophytic closure improves the appearance of the scar and helps it heal better than older methods; later, hair can be seen growing from the scar area, which shows that the tissue there is alive. The technique takes dedication and practice to master.
Dr. Madhu's combined closure
Dr. Madhu further developed a method that combines trichophytic closure with triple-layered closure, and also uses staples, to make the donor scar as fine as possible.
